I recently met a volunteer from Telenesti, our raion center, named Dan. Dan was in Peace Corps a few years ago but had to cut out early for some medical problems. But Dan wasn’t done with Moldova. He came back for several months and spent that time living in Telenesti and doing lots of small projects in the center and surrounding villages. He showed up in my village a few months ago to help my school get their sinks in the school hooked up to the aquaduct on the hill above the village. As tends to happen in Peace Corps, things went a little slower than expected and Dan had to head back to America, leaving yours truly to impliment the project. Long story short, we installed the new equipment last week and it’s working great! Below is a link to the raion center’s website (in Romanian, sorry!) that shows pictures of the project. Thanks, Dan, for dropping such a great starter project into my lap and helping me get the kids in the school some clean water to wash their hands with!
